Businesses are facing widespread disruptions after the heaviest snowfalls across much of England for more than a decade. Commuters in London and the south-east were particularly affected as the snow brought cancellations to train and bus services, as well as dangerous conditions on the roads.
This led to the business continuity plans and flexible working practices of firms being put in the spotlight, with millions of people not being able to get to the office, losing organisations vast amounts of money.
Stephen Beynon, Managing Director of ntl: Telewest Business, says that businesses can prepare for treacherous weather conditions with a flexible-working policy so that employees can still be productive and continue to work, even when they are unable to be in the office.
He adds that firms need to adequately prepare so that they can maintain a competitive advantage and avoid unnecessary staff absence.
With remote working facilities, a business can easily continue its operations and avoid any lost revenue – which is crucial in any economic climate but even more so at the moment.
