BT offering staff new flexible working packages

Due to its tight current financial position, BT is encouraging staff to take 12-month sabbaticals at 25 per cent of their current salary.

This flexible working package will be entirely optional, with BT rolling it out as a limited pilot currently.

The telecommunications giant is piloting a number of special leave options in order to reduce labour costs during these challenging economic times rather than making redundancies.

BT has a tradition for flexible working policies, such as broadband-supported home working, which are innovative ways to keep employees content and happy, as well as more productive.

If the difficult economic climate continues then many organisations may start following BT by introducing more flexible working policies into their business plans.
