Higher bandwidth required by flexible working business users

Recent claims have been made against the Digital Britain report, as it doesn’t do enough for businesses in the UK when outlining the provision of broadband services.

Many businesses that are reliant on flexible working provided by their internet connection will receive no benefits from the report’s commitment to primarily focus on residential broadband users.

The promise of a minimum of 2Mbps is not enough for businesses that use flexible working. This is because far higher speeds and a more reliable performance from broadband services are required by flexible working technology.

Many businesses are now introducing mobile broadband as the primary method for internet access. However, it’s likely that businesses will become more demanding of both speed and reliability when using these services.

As part of the promise to deliver broadband access by 2012, the Digital Britain report has advised that it will be looking at a range of technologies that include wireless, satellite and fibre to achieve its goals.
