Workers across Europe believe that flexible working has a profound effect on levels of employment, according to a recent survey.
85 per cent claim that it creates new jobs, keeps people in work and provides opportunities for people to get back into work. Greater flexibility is also seen as a way to boost productivity and retain talented staff within organisations.
The findings reflect the attitudes of more than 3,500 workers across France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Russia and the UK.
Generally people believe that flexible workers are happy (67 per cent) and over half (51 per cent) feel they’re more productive, while UK workers equate flexibility with loyalty (52 per cent).
The current economic downturn will encourage employers to think about how to adopt a smart workforce approach, using flexibility as a practical and cost effective way of retaining talented staff who need to balance other commitments.
