According to experts, changes made by the new report known as ‘Digital Britain’ will not be enough, as this will limit many companies in the deployment of services that use technologies like video conferencing and VoIP.
Under the ‘Digital Britain’ report many businesses that let their staff work at home will encounter problems with the rolling out of these technologies.
According to experts, the report, which promises nationwide broadband connection speeds of at least 2 Mbps for users, will make it far more restrictive for companies because the boundary set is too low.
Many believe that although the report is seen as a “starting point”, the measures it talked about putting in place were too “half-hearted” and don’t do enough to help remote workers.
With broadband speed targets in other European countries being set much higher, this could lead to the UK falling further behind many of the other European nations.
