Telecommuting helps employers and employees

Microsoft recently conducted a poll of workers to see how remote working technologies are being used, with 65 percent of respondents revealing that they could fulfill their job duties from home or another remote location.

Microsoft reported that by working from home an employee could save approximately $900 a year on fuel and there were additional savings from less damage on a car.

Flexible working tops benefits wish-list

Flexible working is the most valued benefit for employees, proving far more popular than material perks such as bonuses, according to a new survey carried out in the UK by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

PwC quizzed more than 1,000 professionals in the UK and found that flexible working arrangements were rated the most important benefit by almost half (47 per cent) of those questioned, with the second most popular benefit - performance-related bonuses - cited by just one in five (19 per cent).
