BT: Remote working cuts costs and emissions

The cost-saving and environment benefits of remote working have been emphasised by BT.

Nearly ten per cent of BT’s 100,000 employees permanently work from home, with more than 70,000 capable of doing so.

According to a BT official, flexible working saves the company £57 million a year in accommodation and 1.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, with the view being that flexible workers are more productive.

Remote teleconferencers prefer to wear Pyjamas, says BT

According to BT, flexible working at firms is leading to the wider use of remote conferencing systems, as well as an increase in wearing pyjamas rather than office attire.

The survey by BT Conferencing revealed that the flexible working opportunities offered by audio conferencing over the phone, and the fact that colleagues can’t see each other, has led to 68% of users admitting they had dialled into a conference call wearing their pyjamas.
