Flexible working, better for business?

Organisations are reporting that the inability to offer a more modern approach to a flexible work-life balance is costing them staff and causing difficulties in recruiting talented individuals.

Companies are recognising that in order to be able to recruit the best employees they will need to adopt more flexible working policies.  Cherie Booth QC comments in The Times that practicing law would not remain a choice for people without reform to its current working practices in order to provide a more balanced approach.

A study carried out by work-life balance charity, Working Charity, found that 60% of companies were prepared to offer working from home but in practice 69% of employers were reluctant to actually allow it.

The study also found that companies adopting a more flexible approach to work favoured partnering with organisations of a similar nature, proving that flexible working attitudes can be better for business.
